FSR was founded in 1919 in Halchiu, Brasov County, at the initiative of a Czech investor who saw the opportunity of manufacturing drills in a country in reconstruction. 17 years later, in 1936, a co-operation contract is signed between Mr. Tersek, the founder of the company, and Otto Rhein, a Romanian citizen of German origin. Thus a new company takes birth, TITAN, whose headquarter remained to be established in Rasnov.
The Romanian engineer Georgescu Topaslau decides to invest in the growing company. In 1939 he becomes the main shareholder, changes the company name into GETOP and extends the product range, completing it with cutters, reamers and special tools for the aeronautics and military industries.

In 1948 GETOP was taken over and converted in a state company under the name of FSR (FSR), name that remained until today. At that time the company had 950 square meters of production space. Following the successive development stages during 1950-1985, the company reaches a manufacturing area of over 30.000 square meters.
The company reached its development peak in 1988, with about 3500 employees. Starting with 1989 the number of employees decreases constantly as a follow to successive restructuring, to a little over 600 employees in 2001. Throughout this time, the company invested in technology, constantly purchasing high technology CNC equipment intending to diversify the activity and to keep up with the industrial evolution.
In 2007, Sprinter 2000 SA Brasov becomes the main FSR shareholder, a company with 300 employees that continues to hold a leading position on the internal cutting tools market, and further developing into new production areas: moulds, stamps and plastics injection.
